HTML Entity References & Symbol Codes

Character Entity References as defined by the W3C allow webmasters to enter characters that cannot be easily entered on a keyboard to webpages. Character entities take a naming form, &name; or a numeric form, i.e. &. Examples of name-based character entities include ", &, © and ® among others. Any character entity can be specified by a numeric character reference. Numeric reference may be given in decimal or hexadecimal format, and takes the form &#number (decimal form) or &#xnumber (hexadecimal form). Examples of numeric character entities include &#34 (Quotation mark), & (ampercent), © (copyright) and &#174 (registered trade mark).
