WEIGHT is an attempt by Netscape to allow for degrees of boldness. However, even Netscape no longer supports this attribute. However, you can set degrees of boldness using styles. See
Font Weight.
WEIGHT accepts a range from 100 to 900 in multiples of 100. So, for example, 450 would not work because it is not a multiple of 100. The following code sets a font with a weight of 900:
